ROMANCE X FELIPE PANTONE

ROMANCE X FELIPE PANTONE

November 23, 2018

Wow! We are incredibly honoured and privileged here at G!RO to be chosen as one of a select few places to display what can only be described as a truly striking bike – or does work of art fit better? – This amazing collaboration between our good friends Romance and artist Felipe Pantone is currently being auctioned off in aid of World Bicycle Relief (Link below). At time of writing, the auction had already reached the lofty heights of £12,600, with over 4 days to go!!!!

Having seen it in the flesh, when G!RO visited the Rouleur Classic, it’s safe to say it turned heads. The guys latest venture into the custom bike territory, for the first time, has yielded results that have never before been seen; making this a truly unique bike that if funds allow would be fully worth adding to any respectable bike collection. The canvas for this artwork is a Specialized Allez Sprint - the result – Specialized as you’ve never seen one before. Despite this being their first bike, the guys at Romance are no stranger to artist collaborations, with a 2017 kit release featuring 2 collaboration kits again in aid of world bicycle relief, some of you may remember we hosted a ride for this kit launch from the café.

World bicycle relief do incredibly important work in developing countries, primarily focusing on the mobility of the population in these developing nations. Their efforts centre around the bicycle, empowering communities, particularly focusing on access to education and healthcare to catalyse economic development.

To find out more about this bike and our friends over at Romance, head to there website www.rmnc.cc, to find out more about the amazing cause they’re supporting, take a look at the world bicycle relief page worldbicyclerelief.org and to support this cause through the auction (funds dependent). If you just want to come gaze at this fine piece of art then be sure to head to G!RO before MONDAY 26th November.

Meet Daisy, G!RO Cafe Manager extraordinaire and all round legend! Since, we took the difficult decision to close the doors of G!RO given the current unprecedented global situation, she has found herself with a bit more time on her hands at home, like many of us doing our bit for the NHS! She decided to write this awesome little blog for us on what she’s doing with all this spare time and how she’s trying to #KeepItGiro whilst we’re closed. She has plenty of awesome ideas and inspiration for how you could win our instagram competition, where you could win a G!RO mussette full of Workshop Coffee. Head over to our instagram to get involved; simply show us how you're keeping it G!RO at home, like Daisy, tag us and add the hashtag #KeepItGiro. We’ll be picking our favourite soon. Now enjoy Daisy’s insight into things that are keeping her sane in this strange, uncertain time.

At the heart of G!RO, and even in the very early planning stages before we opened for business, we have celebrated and championed the synergy between coffee and cycling. In order to create a local hub for local riders, of course, coffee had to be an integral part of that. It seems so synonymous now that cycling and coffee are all part of the same experience. And beyond cycling, coffee has found its way into the very core of our everyday. This luxurious, exotic, rich dark liquid that is the centre point for meetings, catch-ups, dates, working from home, and more to the point - the start and end of a cycle ride. G!RO has based its very being around a cup of coffee.
